Privacy Policy

Effective Date: October 1, 2026

Bay Area Arborist Cooperative, Inc. (“we,” “us,” or “our”) runs the website bayareaarborist.com (the “Site”). This policy explains, in plain terms, what information we collect from you, why we collect it, and what choices you have. We've tried to keep the legal jargon out — if anything here is unclear, contact us and we'll explain it.

By using the Site, you're agreeing to how we handle information as described below.

1. Information You Give Us

When you fill out a form on our Site to request service or get in touch, we collect:

  • First and last name
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Address(es) — including property or service address if different from your billing/contact address
  • City, state, ZIP code, and country
  • Your preferred way for us to contact you
  • The services you're asking about

We only collect this because you chose to submit it to us. We don't gather it any other way.

2. Information Collected Automatically

Just by visiting the Site, some technical information is collected automatically through our website platform's built-in analytics (Squarespace Analytics), including your IP address, browser/device type, pages viewed, referring site, and a general sense of your location. This is standard website traffic data that helps us understand how people use the Site. We don't use it to personally identify you unless you've also filled out our form.

3. Why We Collect This Information

  • Respond to your request and follow up about the service you asked about
  • Contact you the way you told us you prefer — including calling or texting the number you provide, about the service you requested
  • Send occasional updates or promotions, if you haven't opted out
  • Keep a record of our conversations with you so we can serve you well
  • Understand overall site traffic and improve how the Site works

4. Photos From Service Visits

As part of providing tree service, we may take before-and-after photos of the work at your property. These are generally used on our website — not every photo we take ends up published.

  • We don't include identifiable people in these photos, with two exceptions: our employees, who have given their consent to appear, and customers, only when informed consent has been clearly established — whether we ask for it or you request it.
  • We take reasonable care to avoid including identifying property details, like house numbers or license plates.

If you have any concerns about photos taken at your property, just let us know and we'll address it.

5. Who We Share It With

We don't sell your information — period. We handle your information ourselves and don't run it through any third-party CRM, marketing platform, or scheduling software. The only situations where your information might be shared are:

  • If we're legally required to (for example, responding to a court order)
  • To protect our legal rights, safety, or property, or that of others

6. How Long We Keep It

We keep your information for as long as we reasonably need it to serve you and maintain accurate business records, or as required by law. If you ask us to delete it and we have no legal reason to keep it, we will.

7. Your Everyday Choices

You're in control of your information:

Your RightWhat It Means
Opt out of marketing Tell us and we'll stop sending promotional messages
Manage cookies Block or clear cookies in your browser settings

Do Not Track: Some browsers send a “Do Not Track” signal. Our Site does not currently respond differently to that signal, since there isn't yet a common industry standard for how sites should handle it.

8. Your Privacy Rights

California's privacy law (the CCPA, as updated by the CPRA) gives California residents specific rights over their personal information. As a matter of policy, we extend these same rights to every visitor, regardless of where you're located:

Your RightWhat It MeansOur Response Time
Right to Know / Access Ask what personal information we've collected about you and how it's used Within 45 days (may extend to 90 days with written notice)
Right to Delete Ask us to delete your personal information Within 45 days (may extend to 90 days with written notice)
Right to Correct Ask us to fix inaccurate information we have on file Within 45 days (may extend to 90 days with written notice)
Right to Opt Out of Sale/Sharing We don't sell or share your data, so there's nothing to opt out of — but you can always ask us to confirm Confirmed promptly
Right to Non-Discrimination We won't deny service, charge you more, or treat you differently for exercising any of these rights Always in effect

Note: Businesses below a certain size aren't always legally required to comply with the CCPA — we offer these rights voluntarily because we think you're entitled to them either way.

9. How to Submit a Privacy Request

To exercise any right listed above, send us a written request — by email or mail — with:

  • Your full name
  • Which right you're exercising (know, delete, or correct)
  • Enough information for us to locate your records (e.g., the email, phone number, or address you originally submitted)

Email: info@bayareaarborist.com with the subject line “Privacy Rights Request,” or mail your request to the address in Section 11. We may ask you to verify your identity before completing the request. We'll confirm we've received it and respond within 45 calendar days; if we genuinely need more time, we'll notify you in writing with the reason, for a maximum of 90 days total. There's no charge, and we won't treat you any differently for asking.

10. How We Protect Your Information

We take reasonable steps — technical and organizational — to keep your information safe. That said, no website or method of storing data online is 100% risk-free, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

This policy can change at any time, for any reason, without advance notice. When we make changes, we'll update the “Effective Date” at the top of this page.
